During the inauguration of the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh at KD Singh 'Babu' Stadium in Lucknow, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized India's growing identity in global sports. Singh highlighted the government's commitment to sports infrastructure, citing an investment of nearly ₹5,000 crore under the 'Khelo India' initiative, which aims to develop grassroots sports culture and promote women's participation. He encouraged young athletes to view their success as integral to India's progress, linking their achievements to the nation's aspirations during the 'Amrit Kaal' period. The event, running from April 13 to 15, features sportsmen from all assembly segments of Lucknow, and Singh expressed a desire for world-class facilities to nurture talent. He also acknowledged the historical significance of Lucknow in sports, having hosted the first National Games in 1948. The event included the recognition of players, coaches, and stadium workers for their contributions.
