The Bihar government has proposed six significant road projects valued at nearly ₹41,000 crore to enhance infrastructure in the state. Among these, the Patna-Purnea Expressway, estimated at ₹23,000 crore, is set to be Bihar's first intra-state expressway. Other projects include a bypass in Kaimur district and the development of a stretch of NH-727(AA). Despite the submission of detailed project reports (DPRs) over the past six months, the proposals remain stuck at the initial scrutiny stage with the Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) yet to grant approval. Senior officials are urging the newly reconstituted state government to apply pressure on the central government for swift clearance. The delay in approvals poses a risk to the state's economic growth, particularly in its underdeveloped regions, where improved road connectivity is crucial for trade and investment.
