This decision follows a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks where his pitching velocity dropped significantly, with none of his 21 pitches exceeding 86.9 mph. Woodruff's average fastball in that game was 85.4 mph, well below his season average of 92.5 mph. He expressed that he did not feel injured but described his arm as 'dead'. This injury adds to a series of setbacks for the 33-year-old pitcher, who previously dealt with a lat strain that sidelined him during the postseason last year. Despite undergoing shoulder surgery after the 2023 season, he returned to pitch midway through last season, finishing with a 3.20 ERA. Currently, Woodruff holds a 2-1 record with a 3.60 ERA in six starts this season. In his absence, the Brewers recalled Easton McGee from Triple-A Nashville, where he has a 6.39 ERA in eight games this season.
