A tragic incident unfolded in Yakutganj village, Kasganj district, Uttar Pradesh, India, where a nine-year-old boy named Yashpal was shot dead by Dhanesh Yadav after he refused to fetch water for Yadav, who was drinking alcohol during a naming ceremony. The shooting occurred on the night of May 1-2, and Yashpal was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University, where he succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, police registered an initial case under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempted murder, but this was escalated to murder charges after Yashpal's death. Dhanesh Yadav, who had fled the scene, was apprehended on Saturday, and a firearm was recovered from him. He has since been taken to court and remanded to jail.
