On Wednesday, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) achieved a significant victory in the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly by passing a vote of confidence with 144 votes, well above the 118 needed to form the government. The Speaker of the assembly, J C D Prabhakar, confirmed that the vote was conducted in six rounds. Notably, 25 MLAs from the opposing All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chose to support TVK, while 22 MLAs led by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami opposed the motion. Additionally, 5 MLAs, including a member from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), abstained from voting.
