Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reaffirmed the state's commitment to implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) during a recent announcement. He emphasized the need for a UCC, stating that the current system of diverse personal laws based on religion is outdated. The government has initiated a feedback process, forming a committee led by a former Supreme Court judge to collect suggestions from citizens of all faiths across various districts. This initiative is inspired by UCC implementations in states like Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and Assam, which aim to create a unified legal framework for marriage, divorce, and succession. To facilitate public participation, a website has been launched for feedback submissions. CM Yadav expressed confidence that Madhya Pradesh is among the most appropriate states for UCC adoption, highlighting the government's dedication to the welfare of its citizens. Additionally, he chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of women and child development initiatives in the state.
