N. Ramchander Rao, the president of the Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has publicly backed the RTC workers in their ongoing struggle, labeling it as a 'just and rightful' cause. He urged the Telangana state government to engage in immediate and meaningful discussions with the RTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) to address their pending demands. Among the key requests are the initiation of the RTC merger process, the lifting of restrictions on trade unions, and the conducting of recognition elections for unions. Rao also highlighted the need for the government to release ₹400 crore (approximately $48 million USD) per month to cover dues related to the free bus service scheme, along with a call for the withdrawal of any plans to privatize RTC operations. Furthermore, he advocated for the procurement of electric buses to enhance RTC services.
