Siddiqui stated that instead of approaching the court regarding a public interest litigation (PIL) about post-poll violence following the 2026 State Assembly elections, Banerjee should have visited the affected areas. He expressed skepticism about the ruling government's commitment to public welfare, urging citizens to reconsider their expectations of Banerjee. During her court appearance, Banerjee wore a lawyer's robe to present her party's position on the alleged violence, which included attacks on party offices and displacement of workers. Following her appearance, the Bar Council of India (BCI) wrote to the West Bengal Bar Council, seeking clarification on Banerjee's legal practice status, as her attire raised questions about adherence to professional conduct standards.
