The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a second first information report (FIR) against KN Annadurai, a superintendent in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and central excise department in Dharmapuri district, Tamil Nadu, for allegedly accumulating disproportionate assets amounting to ₹20.40 lakh. This action follows a previous FIR registered in 2024, where Annadurai was caught demanding a ₹5 lakh bribe along with a monthly payout of ₹10,000 to facilitate the clearance of GST dues totaling ₹1.5 crore for a private firm. Investigations revealed that Annadurai's assets nearly tripled from ₹42 lakh in 2019 to ₹1.2 crore in 2024, while his total income during this period was ₹78 lakh. The FIR also noted that he spent approximately ₹65 lakh and made several cash purchases of home appliances. The CBI had previously conducted searches at his residence in Krishnagiri and seized various documents, which led to the filing of this separate case after obtaining consent from the state government in March 2024.
