On Wednesday, a fire broke out at the Flourish Homestay in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, forcing 35-year-old Grace Paye from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to escape by jumping from a second-floor window. He was unable to exit through the electronically locked door of his room, prompting him to break a window and leap onto a mattress below. Grace sustained injuries to his hand during the escape and was treated at Max Hospital, where he was discharged shortly after. His brother, Blaise Paye, mentioned that Grace had missed his scheduled flight to China due to the incident but managed to purchase another ticket. Additionally, two other individuals, Mohd Warsame and Ubah, who had traveled from Kenya for IVF treatment, were admitted to the ICU after jumping from the third floor. Ubah underwent surgery for a leg fracture but is now stable, while Warsame is receiving treatment for trauma. Following the fire, the Congolese community has temporarily relocated to East of Kailash as local hotels remain closed.
