The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has ramped up its efforts against unauthorized constructions, reporting 95 demolitions and the sealing of 124 properties as of June 7, 2026. This crackdown includes a recent operation where one major demolition was conducted, alongside sealing 10 illegal properties. The MCD has issued 84 Show Cause Notices for Unauthorized Construction and 41 Sealing Show Cause Notices to property owners, as well as 33 formal Demolition Orders targeting heavily contested structures. Local leaders, including Satish Upadhyay, Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, have expressed support for the initiative, highlighting its focus on public safety and adherence to government regulations. The drive is also a response to public complaints regarding unsafe buildings, as noted by BJP Municipal Councillor Mamta Yadav, who stated that these actions aim to prevent potential disasters and protect the community.
