An awareness and training programme for self-enumeration in the upcoming Census 2027 was held at the Collectorate in Karaikal. The event was chaired by Ishita Rathi, the District Collector and Principal Census Officer. The programme focused on the first phase of the Census, which includes house-listing and building enumeration. Residents will have the opportunity to upload their family details through an online portal from May 17 to May 31, 2026. This initiative aims to facilitate accurate data collection and ensure that all households participate in the Census process. During the training, R. Mohan, the master trainer, elaborated on the self-enumeration portal's functionalities, including how to accurately enter details and address potential public queries. The District Collector emphasized the importance of cooperation among government officials to achieve 100% self-enumeration in the district, highlighting the critical role of accurate data in planning and resource allocation. The training programme saw participation from various government department officials and staff, all dedicated to ensuring a smooth and effective Census process.
