Mason McGwire, the son of former Major League Baseball (MLB) star Mark McGwire, is making strides in his quest to join the Chicago Cubs. Drafted in the eighth round of the 2022 MLB Draft, Mason is currently playing for the Single-A Myrtle Beach team. In his first start of the 2026 season, he threw two perfect innings, striking out five batters before allowing a double and a hit batter in the third inning. Despite missing the entire 2025 season due to an injury, the 22-year-old is determined to work his way up to the major leagues. Interestingly, Mason is a pitcher, a position his father also played before becoming a renowned slugger known for hitting 70 home runs in 1998.
