In Uttarakhand, continuous heavy rainfall in the upper Himalayan regions has prompted authorities to temporarily suspend the movement of pilgrims to Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Hemkund Sahib. Vehicles have been halted at Srinagar, Garhwal, as officials assess the weather and road conditions for safety. Deepak Bhandari, Executive Magistrate of Srinagar, stated that the yatra is paused due to extreme weather, particularly heavy rainfall affecting Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts. The administration has set up two halting areas in Srinagar, accommodating over 100 small and 30-35 large vehicles. Facilities are being provided for the pilgrims, including food packets and sanitation services. Pilgrims waiting for clearance have praised the administration's management of the situation, expressing understanding of the delays caused by the weather. The administration urges pilgrims to remain patient and adhere to official advisories as they monitor conditions closely.
