The Himachal Pradesh cabinet has made significant policy changes, including the approval of amendments to the Himachal Pradesh Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Rules, 1989, which will regulate the cultivation, processing, and transportation of cannabis for medical and scientific purposes. Additionally, the cabinet approved the ‘Policy for Regularisation of Certain Encroachments on Government Land, 2026', aimed at providing relief to landless families and marginal farmers occupying government land. This policy is in compliance with Supreme Court directions and has been sent to the central government for approval. Other initiatives include a new agriculture loan interest subvention scheme, which will benefit 6,356 farmers by covering 50% of interest on loans up to ₹3 lakh.
