The sacred Piprahwa relics of Buddha have arrived in Leh, Ladakh, from the National Museum in Delhi for a two-week exposition starting May 1, 2023, in celebration of the 2,569th Buddha Purnima. This event aims to foster a sense of community among the region's large Buddhist population. A grand procession accompanied the relics to Jivetsal, the venue for the exposition, where men, women, and children gathered to witness the arrival. The opening ceremony will see attendance from several Union ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah, chief ministers from Buddhist-majority states, ambassadors, and Buddhist leaders. The relics will be available for public veneration from May 2 to May 10, followed by exhibitions in Zanskar on May 11 and 12, and at the Dharma Centre in Leh from May 13 to 14. The relics are scheduled to return to Delhi on May 15.
