The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised concerns regarding Rahul Gandhi's foreign travels, claiming he has made 54 trips at a cost of approximately ₹60 crore while declaring an income of only ₹11 crore over the past decade. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra highlighted discrepancies in Gandhi's income versus travel expenses, citing specific financial years where spending on trips far exceeded his declared earnings. Patra demanded that Gandhi disclose the sources of funding for these trips, as well as any permissions obtained from the Ministry of Home Affairs, particularly for six trips described as undeclared. In response, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized the BJP's allegations as a tactic to distract from pressing issues like the economic situation and the government's foreign policy failures. Ramesh emphasized that the BJP should focus on more relevant topics rather than past travels of Gandhi.
