Flagg led all NBA rookies with an impressive average of points per game and became the first rookie since Michael Jordan in the 1984-85 season to lead his team in total points, rebounds, assists, and steals. Joining him as finalists are VJ Edgecombe from the Philadelphia 76ers and Kon Knueppel from the Charlotte Hornets. Edgecombe is expected to be Flagg's main competitor, having led the league with 273 three-pointers made. The NBA plans to announce the Rookie of the Year winner during the playoffs, with the announcement expected in late April or early May.
