During his recent visit to the Netherlands and Finland, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that the trip has opened new avenues for the state's economy, particularly in agriculture and technology. The visit resulted in securing a ₹1,300 crore (approximately $156 million USD) investment from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), aimed at promoting crop diversification and positioning Punjab as a hub for high-value farming. Mann highlighted the potential for exporting roses from Punjab and emphasized the importance of technology transfer and innovation. The delegation visited the World Horticulture Center and engaged with the Netherlands India Chamber of Commerce and Trade, learning about advanced indoor farming techniques. Discussions with global companies, including NXP Semiconductors and LT Foods, could lead to significant investments in Punjab, enhancing its economic landscape. Additionally, the visit included interactions with the Punjabi diaspora in Finland, focusing on education and skill development opportunities. Mann expressed confidence that these efforts would further strengthen Punjab's image as a global investment destination.
