The Madras High Court in Chennai has clarified that it did not instruct the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to file a First Information Report (FIR) against K N Nehru, the municipal administration minister of Tamil Nadu. The court emphasized that it only mandated the registration of an FIR regarding the alleged offense. During the hearing of review applications from Nehru and the Tamil Nadu government, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi argued that Nehru had not been given an opportunity to respond to the plea prior to the court's order. The court has adjourned the hearing to the last week of June, following the petitioner's decision to hold off on pursuing a contempt petition until the review application is resolved. The initial order from the court was issued on February 20, when the first bench directed the DVAC to register an FIR based on information from the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The petitioner, AIADMK MP I S Inbadurai, accused the DVAC of failing to act against Nehru due to political pressures.
