In a significant cabinet expansion, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inducted 12 new ministers into his council on Friday, raising the total number of ministers to 17. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Jyoti‐Bishnu Antarjatik Kala Mandir in Guwahati and was officiated by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya. Among the newly sworn-in ministers, 11 are members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Ranoj Pegu, Ashok Singhal, and Pijush Hazarika, while Keshab Mahanta represents the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). This cabinet reshuffle aims to strengthen the government’s functioning and enhance governance in the state. Notably, this expansion follows a previous swearing-in ceremony on May 12, where four ministers were inducted, including AGP’s Atul Bora and BJP’s Ajanta Neog. The inclusion of new faces in the cabinet reflects the government's strategy to bring in fresh perspectives while maintaining a balance of representation among coalition partners.
