On Saturday, the Nashik district administration organized a workshop aimed at enhancing women's safety in the workplace, highlighting the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act (PoSH). Shobha Pawar, a member of the Juvenile Justice Board, emphasized the necessity for companies to establish Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) as mandated by the PoSH Act. She urged managements to ensure that all employees, including men, are informed about these committees to facilitate the reporting and resolution of complaints. The workshop, conducted by the Nashik district collectorate alongside the district women and child welfare department, followed a recent incident at a TCS-linked BPO in Nashik. Participants discussed the provisions and objectives of the PoSH Act, stressing that workplace safety is a collective responsibility. Suggestions included increased awareness initiatives in small- and medium-scale industries and improved collaboration among various departments for better enforcement of the Act. Ashish Nahar, president of the Nashik Industries and Manufacturers’ Association, advocated for more frequent workshops to enhance workplace safety across industries. Amar Thakare, president of the Nashik Information Technology Association, recommended educating new recruits about the PoSH Act during onboarding.
