The birth and death anniversaries of Mysore Vasudevacharya, a prominent figure in Carnatic music, will be celebrated on May 17 at his residence on New Sayyaji Rao Road in Mysuru, Karnataka, India. The event is organized by M L Bharathi, a senior music teacher and disciple of Asthana Vidwan B Shivappa, along with her students. The celebration will include a presentation by Deepika Madhav Pandurangi, a descendant of Vasudevacharya, who will discuss his life and contributions to music. The event will also feature group singing of Vasudevacharya's compositions and those of other composers from the lineage of Saint Thyagaraja, supported by musicians M R Srikanth on violin and V S Ramesh on mridanga. Bharathi has had a significant impact on music education in Mysuru, training hundreds of students and authoring textbooks for music examinations. Deepika, well-versed in Haridasa literature, has also made notable contributions to music and cultural education in Karnataka.
