Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) has lodged three formal complaints with the Chief Electoral Officer, alleging serious breaches of electoral integrity by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The complaints, filed on April 21, cite misuse of public spaces, physical violence against voters, and organized voter transport from Gujarat as key issues. One complaint highlights a public meeting held by Suvendu Adhikari, a BJP candidate, which allegedly exceeded its permitted time and violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The TMC claims that police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) obstructed their own approved events, accusing them of monopolizing public spaces. In another complaint, the TMC alleges that Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel used excessive force against residents in Nandigram, resulting in injuries that required medical attention. The party contends that these actions are intended to intimidate voters and support the BJP's campaign. Additionally, TMC has raised concerns over reports of organized transport of voters from Surat, Gujarat, claiming this constitutes bribery and undermines fair electoral practices. The party has called for disciplinary action against the involved police personnel and demands that the BJP report these expenses in their election accounts.
