The Nashik city police's special investigation team (SIT) has interrogated Mateen Patel, a corporator from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), regarding his alleged involvement in a case linked to sexual exploitation and religious coercion associated with a BPO. This marks the third time Patel has faced questioning since May 25, led by SIT chief Sandeep Mitke. Investigators are probing who introduced Nida Khan, one of the eight accused in the case, to Patel, as he reportedly assisted her family in finding accommodation in Sambhajinagar while she was evading law enforcement. Nida Khan was arrested on May 7 after being on the run for 42 days. The SIT has booked Patel and another individual, Hanif Khan, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for allegedly providing shelter to Nida. Both Patel and Hanif Khan have been named co-accused in the FIR that was registered against Nida and other suspects on March 26.
