La DoubleJ, a Milan-based fashion brand, has opened its first U.S. flagship store in a long-vacant townhouse on East 69th Street in New York City's Upper East Side. This new location, which spans the limestone structure, offers a collection of maximalist womenswear along with dishware, textiles, and various home goods. The store, referred to as 'The Lighthouse,' aims to create an immersive shopping experience that embodies the vibrant Italian lifestyle, combining fashion, homeware, sound, and spirituality. The executive director of the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District, Matt Bauer, noted that the townhouse had been empty for over six years prior to this opening. Before La DoubleJ, the space was occupied by Fivestory, another clothing store that closed during the pandemic. The arrival of La DoubleJ is part of a broader trend of new openings on Madison Avenue and its side streets, indicating a renaissance for the neighborhood.
