On April 17, the Polson Pirates rallied to defeat the Libby Loggers 9-8 in a high school softball game. The Pirates capitalized on three walks from Libby and a pivotal bases-clearing double by Maddie Turner, scoring six runs in the fifth inning. Earlier, the Loggers had taken an 8-3 lead in the fourth inning, thanks in part to a two-run homer from Hadleigh Wood. Despite a strong start to the season, Libby faced its second straight loss, bringing the tying run to the plate in the seventh inning after a leadoff single from Maddie Willis. However, three consecutive outs ended their hopes for a comeback. Logan McCrea pitched effectively for Polson, allowing no runs over 3 2/3 innings and striking out three batters, while Carmen Kohler pitched for Libby. The Loggers will look to bounce back in their next game against Whitefish.
