Former AIADMK MLA Govindasamy announced his switch to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emphasizing that the party embodies the governance principles of former Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers MG Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa. He criticized AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami for seeking an alliance with the DMK, which he views as a political adversary. Govindasamy expressed disappointment over his appeals to safeguard AIADMK being overlooked. On the same day, more than 300 AIADMK members, including notable figures like former Minister Vellamandi Natarajan and other ex-MLAs, joined TVK, citing their inability to serve the public effectively under AIADMK's current leadership. Former Minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan noted that the ideals of MGR and Jayalalithaa are reflected in TVK's leadership, specifically praising Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. He stated that the recognition and respect they receive in TVK influenced their decision to join the party, which they believe offers a better platform for public service.
