On May 14, 2026, tribal residents of Tokuru panchayat in Anantagiri mandal, located in Alluri Sitharama Raju district, staged a protest demanding the construction of a basic kuccha road to their villages. The protest was organized by the Adivasi Girijana Sangham, with villagers from Chittampadu, Nandanapuram, and Kothavalasa carrying 'dolis' (makeshift stretchers) to symbolize their urgent need for better road access. Former Sarpanch Killo Mosya highlighted the long-standing neglect from authorities, despite the region being a gateway to the popular Chittampadu waterfalls. He recalled a previous meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, where he submitted a memorandum requesting road construction. The lack of road access has forced villagers to use 'dolis' to transport pregnant women and others in medical emergencies. The community has urged the district administration and public representatives to act swiftly, warning of escalated protests if their demands are not addressed.
