She criticized the government's approach, stating that denying essential support to this displaced community sets a dangerous precedent and exacerbates their marginalization. Mufti condemned the police action against Kashmiri Pandit activists, who are voicing concerns over losing their distinct identity as displaced migrants. She emphasized that after years of trauma and uncertainty, the community deserves empathy rather than criminalization for their protests. The Kashmiri Pandit community fears that their inclusion in the NFSA could undermine their special status and affect their access to relief measures established for those displaced during the 1990s. Mufti called for dialogue and confidence-building measures instead of police action, urging the administration to withdraw the FIR against protesters and engage in transparent discussions with community representatives. She stressed that peaceful dissent is a fundamental right that should be respected by democratic governments.
