Benoit Richer, the game director for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Hexe, has announced his departure from Ubisoft to join Servo Games, an independent studio based in Quebec, Canada. This change comes amid a tumultuous development cycle for Hexe, which has already seen the exit of creative director Clint Hocking earlier this year. Richer's announcement, made via a LinkedIn post, emphasizes his excitement about contributing to the Quebec creative ecosystem. Ubisoft has yet to confirm a replacement for Richer, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the game's future. The title, which is set against the backdrop of the 16th-century witch trials in the Roman Empire, was first teased in 2022 and is expected to offer a different experience from previous entries in the franchise. Ubisoft's next release will be a remake of Assassin's Creed Black Flag, scheduled for July 9, 2026.
