He noted that 'Obsession' has reset industry expectations by achieving success without relying on major stars, lavish production designs, or international shoots. Varma estimated the film's production cost to be around ₹70 lakhs, significantly lower than its reported budget of ₹7 crore. He praised the film's unique visual style and editing, which he described as a psychological tool that builds tension through its pacing.
