The Goa government, led by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, is set to implement a 'sentiment analysis' initiative aimed at collecting feedback from patients treated at state-run hospitals, including the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) near Panaji. This project will gather insights from patients about their experiences, which will be utilized to enhance healthcare services and facilities. Rane emphasized the importance of improving processes in hospitals to minimize patient wait times, particularly outside casualty wards. Additionally, the government plans to issue a gazetted notification that will detail guidelines for the conduct of nurses, ensuring that the Nursing Association is consulted prior to implementation. The health department is also focusing on establishing a paperless hospital system and providing certified caretakers to assist patients when their relatives are unavailable. A gap analysis of manpower at GMCH is already in progress and will extend to other healthcare facilities in the state.
