On Tuesday morning, King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Mumbai witnessed a protest after two nurses and four security guards were allegedly assaulted by relatives of a deceased patient. The patient, Ganesh Kulekar, had been receiving treatment for a critical liver condition and passed away late Monday night. Following the incident, which involved relatives entering the ward, verbally abusing staff, and physically attacking them, the injured nurses were taken to the emergency department for treatment. In response, approximately 200 nurses staged a protest within the hospital, calling for stronger security measures, including an increase in trained personnel and limiting the number of visitors allowed in wards. Hospital Dean Dr. Sangeeta Ravat confirmed that a police complaint has been filed against the relatives and that she has reached out to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for enhanced security arrangements.
