Shares of Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SW Solar) jumped 17% to reach a high of ₹227 on the Bombay Stock Exchange after the company announced it had secured a ₹3,490 crore contract from Coal India for an 875 MW (AC) grid-connected solar photovoltaic project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. This order marks SW Solar's first project with Coal India and is part of the company's strategy to expand in the renewable energy sector. In addition, SW Solar has received a new order for a 50 MW AC solar project in Maharashtra. With these recent wins, the company's total engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) order inflows for the fiscal year 2026 have exceeded ₹10,062 crore, surpassing its initial targets. The company's financial performance has also improved significantly, reporting a net profit of ₹14.8 crore for the December quarter, compared to a net loss of ₹63.7 crore during the same period last year. Revenue increased dramatically to ₹1,837 crore, nearly three times higher than the ₹583 crore reported a year ago.
