The Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) has suspended ten lawyers, including Rajiv Khosla (former president of the Delhi High Court Bar Association), for alleged misconduct during the February 2026 elections. The lawyers were accused of misbehaving with returning officer Talwant Singh and obstructing election officials from performing their duties at the Delhi High Court. Following a meeting of the Election Committee, BCD issued show-cause notices to the lawyers, demanding explanations for their actions and warning of potential disciplinary measures, including a three-year suspension of their practice licenses. An FIR was also filed by Delhi Police regarding alleged tampering of ballot papers during the counting process, which raised concerns of manipulation favoring a specific candidate. Khosla has criticized the suspension as illegal, asserting that the protest was legitimate and primarily led by women lawyers. He indicated that the group intends to challenge the decision, emphasizing the need for a repoll due to the alleged irregularities.
