Lovkesh Bajaj, the owner of the Flourish Stay B B hotel in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, has been placed in police custody for four days as authorities investigate a tragic fire that resulted in 21 fatalities. Bajaj was arrested following a search operation and appeared in court, where police argued that further interrogation was necessary to examine the roles of hotel staff and compliance documentation. Investigators revealed that the hotel was operating 28 rooms despite having permission for only six, indicating serious negligence. Forensic examinations are ongoing, with initial findings suggesting that many victims succumbed to smoke inhalation. The police are also searching for hotel manager Jai Mishra, who is currently missing. The investigation is extensive, involving multiple police teams and collaboration with agencies such as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to assess structural safety and operational compliance. Meanwhile, post-mortem examinations are being conducted at AIIMS, with several bodies already processed.
