Anupama Jaiswal, a BJP MLA from Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, suffered minor burn injuries on Saturday while attempting to set fire to an effigy of Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party. The incident occurred during the 'Mahila Janaakrosh March', a protest organized by the BJP against the opposition. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion resembling a firecracker, which caused flames to leap towards Jaiswal's face, resulting in superficial burns covering about four percent of her forehead. She was promptly taken to a district hospital for treatment and later transferred to Lucknow for further medical consultation, including a potential visit to a plastic surgeon. The Chief Medical Superintendent confirmed her condition was stable and her eyes were unharmed. BJP district vice president Rahul Rai indicated that an excessive amount of petrol or spirit on the effigy might have caused the incident.
