Nasos Athanasiou, a prominent journalist and former member of the SYRIZA party, has passed away at the age of 75. Born on March 2, 1951, in Aigaleo, he graduated from the Law School of the University of Athens and began his journalism career in 1976. Athanasiou worked for several notable newspapers, including Ethnos and Kathimerini, and presented news programs on various television channels, including ERT and Mega Channel. He served as a SYRIZA MP for Attica from May 2012 until 2023, after which he joined the New Left party and became involved in its Transitional Nationwide Coordinating Committee. Athanasiou was also active in local government, serving as a municipal councillor in Athens. His contributions to literature included novels and children's books. The Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily Newspapers (ESIEA) expressed deep sorrow over his passing, highlighting his esteemed career and contributions to journalism.
