The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced the construction of seven foot over bridges (FOBs) along the Metro Line 9 corridor, which stretches from Dahisar East to Mira-Bhayandar. This initiative is part of MMRDA's Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) strategy aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety and improving access to Metro stations. The FOBs will be strategically located at high-traffic areas, including the Dahisar Toll Naka and various points along Mira-Bhayandar Road, to facilitate safer crossings for pedestrians. Each bridge will range from 80 to 145 meters in length and will feature modern amenities such as lifts, staircases, and CCTV surveillance. The project, valued at ₹82.09 crore, has been awarded to a joint venture of Speco Infrastructure and PRS Infraprojects LLP. MMRDA officials expect that these structures will ease congestion during peak hours and promote greater use of the Metro network by providing safer access to stations. The completion of these bridges is anticipated to coincide with the full operational launch of Metro Line 9, which is nearing completion following the commissioning of its first phase in April 2023.
