On Friday, thousands of aspirants took to the streets in Patna, Bihar, demanding the release of the advertisement for the fourth phase of the Teachers’ Recruitment Exam (TRE-4) by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). The protest escalated, leading police to use lathicharge to disperse the crowd, resulting in injuries among some students. Protesters expressed their frustration over the BPSC's repeated delays, citing a missed deadline of April 19 for the advertisement. Former education minister Sunil Kumar had previously assured that the recruitment of approximately 46,000 teachers would be conducted soon. This recruitment process has been pending due to various reasons, including the requirement to conduct the Secondary Teachers’ Eligibility Test (STET) first, which was held in late 2025. New education minister Mithilesh Tiwari stated that agitation is not the solution and promised to address the concerns of the aspirants. Opposition leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav criticized the government for not fulfilling its promises to the youth of Bihar, highlighting the disparity between political appointments and the aspirations of hard-working students.
