Hinsdale Hospital, formally known as UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale, has reported a significant turnaround since Elise MacCarroll-Wright became CEO in January 2025. Under her leadership, the hospital has seen a 10% increase in admissions and a 25% rise in emergency room visits. MacCarroll-Wright highlighted the hospital's improved patient experience, noting it leads the 57 hospitals in the AdventHealth system in terms of patient recommendations. A major factor in this turnaround has been the reduction of employee turnover from over 40% to 18%, with some departments achieving rates below 10%. This improvement is attributed to enhanced team engagement and a strong focus on hospital culture, supported by biannual team engagement surveys. Furthermore, the hospital has excelled in its open-heart surgery program, performing 115 surgeries last year with a remarkable zero percent mortality rate, positioning it among the best in the nation. Currently, Hinsdale Hospital employs around 1,400 staff members, including 1,200 on the medical team, and maintains an average daily patient census of 165.
