Andrew Bedwell, a 52-year-old from Scarisbreck, Lancashire, has set sail from Newfoundland, Canada, in an attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean in his 3.9ft boat, the Big CV. This journey covers 1,900 miles to the UK and is expected to take around 90 days. Bedwell's last attempt ended in failure when his previous vessel, the Big C, sank on its first day in 2023. This time, he has constructed a new boat from aluminum, which is designed to withstand the challenges of the ocean. Despite the risks of freezing temperatures and potential icebergs, Bedwell remains optimistic and is not feeling nervous. He aims to raise money for Cancer Research and hopes to inspire others to chase their dreams. His journey commenced under ideal conditions, with calm waters and a favorable wind, marking a promising start to his ambitious adventure.
