At a recent workshop organized by the Georgian Alumni Association, doctors from King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow highlighted the effectiveness of antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) therapy as a targeted treatment for various cancers. Prof. Sudhir Singh from the radiotherapy department explained that ADC therapy combines a cancer-targeting antibody with an anti-cancer drug, allowing for direct delivery of medication to cancer cells. This method enhances treatment precision and reduces collateral damage to healthy cells. The therapy has shown promising results particularly in cases of breast, lung, and lymphoma cancers. Dr. Zoya Siddiqui, a gynaecologic oncologist, emphasized the role of biomarkers—biological indicators found in blood—in detecting lung cancer and guiding treatment decisions. Furthermore, Prof. Naseem Akhtar from the surgical oncology department stressed the importance of boosting immunity through both treatment and nutrition as vital components of cancer care. The insights shared at the workshop underscore the evolving landscape of cancer treatment and the potential benefits of innovative therapies like ADC.
