Darren Lehmann, the head coach of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the team until the end of the 2029 season. Appointed in October 2024, Lehmann has made a significant impact, leading the team to T20 Finals Day for the first time in nine years and achieving a strong start in the County Championship, where they currently sit second in Division Two. Lehmann expressed his happiness with the club, stating, "It was an easy decision for me because I love the place." His previous coaching experience includes leading Australia to victory in the 2015 Cricket World Cup and coaching various teams in domestic leagues. Northamptonshire CEO Ray Payne highlighted Lehmann's positive influence and connection with supporters, emphasizing the excitement surrounding the club's future under his leadership. The team is set to host Worcestershire in their next match starting on Friday, May 1.
