Jean-Dominique Okemba, the Secretary-General of the National Security Council of the Republic of the Congo, highlighted the significance of this summit in an interview with TASS. He stated that the summit should focus on establishing partnerships that respect the sovereignty of African states while contributing to their development and stability. Okemba noted that Russia has historically been a vital partner for many African countries and is now keen on enhancing its diplomatic, economic, and security presence on the continent, particularly in light of the evolving international landscape. Furthermore, a decree from President Vladimir Putin on March 25 revealed plans for the third Russia-Africa summit to be held in Moscow in 2026, with Yury Ushakov appointed to lead the organizing committee. This summit is expected to serve as a platform for consolidating cooperation that is balanced and mutually beneficial for both Russia and African nations.
