In a tragic incident in Chennai's Koyambedu area, an 18-year-old Sri Lankan Tamil refugee named Yancy was killed after a bar dispute led to a deadly road accident. The altercation began Saturday night inside a bar and escalated outside, where Yancy and a 17-year-old girl were riding a motorcycle. Following a confrontation between rival groups, Yancy's friends allegedly threw stones at a car carrying members of the opposing group. In retaliation, the car pursued Yancy's motorcycle and rammed into it, causing both riders to fall. Yancy suffered fatal head injuries and died at the scene, while the other girl was hospitalized with injuries. The Koyambedu police have initiated an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage and arresting four individuals linked to the incident, including Balakumar, who was in the car during the crash. Further inquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
