Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has prioritized public health amid a severe heatwave affecting the state. During a review meeting, he instructed officials to remain vigilant and implement precautionary measures to protect citizens from extreme temperatures, which have recently soared from 45°C to 48°C. Local holidays will be declared in areas experiencing intense heat, depending on the situation's severity. To combat the heat, Naidu emphasized the need for cold drinking water, buttermilk, and Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) packets at public places. He also encouraged district collectors to conduct media briefings to raise awareness about heatstroke and dehydration prevention. Vulnerable populations, including the elderly, pregnant women, and children, are advised to limit outdoor activities during peak hours from 11 am to 4 pm. Additionally, the government has established 1,349 heat shelters and cooling centers in urban areas and is promoting greenery to help mitigate the impact of rising temperatures. Naidu's administration aims to ensure public safety and health during this extreme weather event.
