The Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, an organization linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), is set to host the 'Janjati Sanskritik Samagam' at the Red Fort in Delhi from May 22 to 25. This event commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Birsa Munda and aims to mobilize over 3,000 tribals from each district across India, representing more than 550 tribal communities. The gathering is not only a cultural celebration but also a strategic move to advocate for a constitutional amendment that would revoke reservation rights for tribals who convert to other religions. Dr. Madhukar Aacharya, Vice President of the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, emphasized the need for this amendment, stating that the current system allows converted tribals to retain benefits that should be exclusive to those who remain within their tribal identity. To facilitate the large turnout, organizers have arranged for 43 special trains and numerous buses to transport participants from remote areas. The event will also include cultural processions featuring traditional attire, folk music, and dance performances. The choice of the Red Fort as the venue symbolizes the importance of tribal identity in India's heritage, while the event aims to strengthen ties between urban populations and tribal communities.
