Esakki Subaya, the MLA for Ambasamudram, has resigned from the AIADMK to join the ruling Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), leading to an upcoming by-election. Despite previous setbacks, including a brief cabinet position and a lack of support from the AIADMK after Jayalalithaa's death, Subaya remains popular among voters due to his approachable nature. In addition to Subaya, several other AIADMK members have defected to the TVK, indicating a potential shift in political dynamics in the region. Subaya is expected to be the TVK candidate in the forthcoming by-poll, where he aims to leverage his past electoral successes.
